Sports Betting, Starting from the Margin
Every explanation of sports betting has to begin somewhere, and beginning with the margin saves a great deal of time later. A bookmaker converts an opinion about probability into a price, then shortens that price so the implied probabilities across a market add up to more than one hundred per cent. The surplus is the margin, and it is the reason a market is not a fair coin. Nothing else on this desk makes sense until that is clear.
alphawin.biz is an independent information portal about the Alphawin platform. It takes no bets, quotes no odds, publishes no tips and cannot settle a dispute. What it can do is explain the mechanics, in English, for a reader in Bulgaria.
One account, two products
The sportsbook and the casino sit behind the same login and the same balance, so no separate registration is involved and money moves between them without a transfer. The consequences run in both directions: the payment rules on the payments desk apply identically, with a 20 лв. deposit floor on most rails and a 40 лв. withdrawal floor, and a casino bonus with an active turnover requirement may or may not accept sports stakes towards it. That last point is decided in the offer terms rather than by the sportsbook, and it is covered on bonus terms.
Reading a price without being misled by it
Decimal odds are the default format here, and they answer one question: what does one unit staked return in total if the selection wins. A price of 2.00 returns twice the stake, implying a fifty per cent chance; 4.00 returns four times, implying twenty-five per cent. Add up the implied probabilities across every outcome in a market and the total exceeds one hundred per cent — that excess is the margin, and it is larger on obscure markets than on major ones. A reader comparing two prices for the same event is really comparing two margins.
The practical rule that follows is unglamorous: markets with many outcomes and little liquidity carry the widest margins, which is why exotic selections look generous and rarely are. The individual bet structures are set out on bet types.
The Bulgarian sporting calendar
A betting week here does not look like a betting week in London or Mumbai. Football is the centre of it — the efbet Liga, the domestic cup and the national team, alongside the European competitions that most Bulgarian supporters follow in parallel. Volleyball comes next and outranks its position almost everywhere else, because Bulgaria has a long and genuine tradition in the sport and the national team draws real attention. Tennis and basketball fill much of the rest, and the winter disciplines — biathlon and alpine skiing — add a seasonal block that international sportsbooks often underweight.

In-play, and the delay nobody mentions
Live markets reprice continuously as an event develops, and the picture reaching a screen is always slightly behind the picture on the pitch. That lag is why in-play bets are frequently held for a few seconds before acceptance and why a price can change during confirmation. It is a property of the format rather than a fault. The same lag is what makes in-play betting the fastest way to turn a considered evening into an unconsidered one, which is why the tools on staying in control are worth setting before rather than after.
Money and regulation in Bulgaria
The rules that govern a sports payout are the ones on the withdrawal page: the operator processes a request within about 24 hours, then the method adds its own time — up to 24 hours for wallets, ePay.bg, EasyPay and crypto, one to three business days for cards and bank transfers. Winnings from an organiser licensed in Bulgaria are not declared by the player as taxable income, the levy resting with the organiser, and the National Revenue Agency confirms individual cases. That same agency, which took over supervision from the abolished State Commission on Gambling, keeps the register showing which organisers hold a licence and which domains it covers.
